Telephone scammers are hitting this area again and claiming they’re with the Social Security Administration.
Last week, scammers using the Social Security line were able to obtain personal information from an elderly lady in northeast Jasper, and on Thursday they did the same thing to an older lady in Ryall Acres.
Law enforcement officials say never give your personal information to someone who calls you on the phone claiming to be with any type of entity. Instead, look up the number to that particular entity and call them yourself to confirm that they actually need to speak to you.
