The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after skeletal remains were found outside of a house near Buna on Tuesday afternoon. According to Deputy Karli Cherry, the body was found next to the porch of a house on Feldschau Road in the Estates of Cougar Country. Cherry said it’s believed that the remains are that of an elderly man who lived there. Additionally, Cherry said investigators surmise that the man possibly fell off the porch, was incapacitated, and died. Cherry also noted that the yard was overgrown, making it impossible for anyone to see him on the ground. Justice of the Peace Mike Smith performed the inquest and has ordered an autopsy, which will include making a positive identification of the deceased.
