Six fire departments on Wednesday afternoon were battling a large wildfire in Sabine County which was threatening structures, and firefighters say it was caused by illegal outdoor burning during a burn ban.

Daily News & More is reporting that the Pendleton Harbor and Hemphill Fire Departments were dispatched out at 2:00 to Windcrest Drive off of Highway 87 near the Shelby County line, and they soon called for mutual aid assistance from the Shamrock Shores, Pineland, and San Augustine Fire Departments along with the Texas A&M Forest Service.

Meanwhile, the report said that a Sabine County deputy was also on scene investigating the illegal burning that caused the blaze.
