A Silsbee man is headed for a stay in federal prison following his guilty plea on a charge of Possession of Child Pornography. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas, 51-year-old Michael Joseph Fontenot was sentenced to 6½ years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on Monday in the Jack Brooks Federal Building in downtown Beaumont. U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs said that an investigation revealed that Fontenot was using a social media application to view and download child pornography, and an evidentiary search warrant turned up more than 600 images of child pornography on his cell phone, tablet, flash drives, and a laptop computer.
