ALEXANDRIA, La. - A single-vehicle crash killed a 76-year-old man from Shreveport on Thursday. Around 10:50 a.m., Louisiana State Police responded to the crash near Mile Post 78 that killed Tandy McElwee Jr. Investigation revealed that McElwee was traveling north on I-49 when his vehicle traveled off the roadway, entered the median and hit the cable barrier. McElwee was wearing a seatbelt and sustained severe injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he died due to his injuries. Routine toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
