Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the death of a man in the Zion Hill Community just south of Jasper.
Officers were dispatched to the home located on Highway 96, near County Road 301, shortly before 11:00, when it was reported that someone was concerned about the elderly resident and his whereabouts.
The name of the deceased or other information has not been released as the investigation continues and Jasper County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Raymond Hopson has requested that an autopsy be performed. However, officers have said that so far there is no evidence of foul play.
