A few days ago Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard recently circulated photos from a video surveillance system he said were images of a possible suspect in a burglary case in Bon Wier and asked for help identifying the individual.
Havard said deputies recognized the mystery suspect as being involved in another burglary and from that incident were able to obtain more information which allowed them to identify the suspect vehicle and went work trying to find it.
Havard said he and others went to New Llano, on the south side of Leesville and worked alongside Louisiana law enforcement during the investigation.
Havard said based on information obtained, the suspect, Peyton Grimm, was transported back to Newton County for an interview which resulted in a warrant being issued for his arrest charging him with Burglary of a Building.
Sheriff Havard said he would like to thank the Texas Department of Public Safety, Vernon Parish Sheriff Dept, Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office, and the New Llano Police Department for their assistance.
Havard said "The Newton County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the strong working relationships with our surrounding agencies. Together, we will continue to pursue and hold accountable those who commit crimes in our community."
