BUNA, Texas (KTRE) - A man that Sheriff Chuck Havard referred to as a habitual thief was arrested Thursday morning.
According to the sheriff, at 3:30 a.m. Thursday someone entered a property at a business on FM 2246 in Evadale. The person seen on video stole various tools and equipment that were worth thousands of dollars, Havard said.
Law enforcement got the video from the business owner and began investigating. They located the car and suspect allegedly seen on the video at a residence on Doc Davis Drive in Cougar Country. It was determined that Christopher Hand, 35, of Buna, was the person seen on the video.
He was arrested and charged with felony theft, Havard said, and was taken to the Jasper County Jail. The owner is in the process of having his equipment returned to him.
“Hand is an habitual thief and can’t help but take other people’s property. Hopefully, he will be in the Jasper County Jail for a while,” Sheriff Havard said.
