Seven indicted in Beaumont beating, police seeking more suspects

Seven have been indicted in the wake of a violent beating of a man on the parking lot of a north Beaumont convenience store. The crime occurred at about 3:30 on the morning of Sunday, October 1st and left a 22-year-old Conroe man in critical condition and on a ventilator. The motive behind the attack is not known. The seven suspects were each charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The seven are: Carl Chopane, Ellis Tatum, Dakyrian Beaty, Jalen Foxall, Jameel Petry, Deion Brooks, and Michael Williams, III. The District Attorney’s Office also got an indictment on Williams for a charge of Aggravated Robbery because security camera video of the crime showed him taking the victim’s debit card from his pocket. Meanwhile, Beaumont Police say they are still seeking more suspects.
