With rains expected due to Hurricane Nicholas, some schools in Acadiana have decided on closing.
Below is a list of schools closed Tuesday:
ACADIA PARISH
The Acadia Parish School System will close all facilities on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021. Students will be provided remote learning assignments and activities to work on while the system is closed. We plan to resume normal operations on Wednesday, September 15th.
CALCASIEU PARISH
The Calcasieu Parish School System schools and facilities will be closed again on September 14.
All SOWELA campuses will be closed Tuesday, September 14, in preparation for Tropical Storm Nicholas. For official updates, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to follow SOWELA.edu. If assistance is needed, contact info@SOWELA.edu.
Evangeline Parish
All Evangeline Parish Schools and District Offices will be closed Tuesday, September 14 in an effort to keep students, employees, etc. safe.
Sacred Heart School in Ville Platte will dismiss at noon on Tuesday, September 14, due to anticipated flooding.
IBERIA PARISH
Iberia Parish Public Schools will dismiss early Tuesday, September 14, due to tropical weather conditions. Middle and high schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. and elementary schools will dismiss at 1:15 p.m.
Catholic High in New Iberia will dismiss at 12:30pm on Tuesday, September 14.
JEFF DAVIS PARISH
All schools and office locations in Jeff Davis Parish will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Teachers/students will transition to virtual learning tomorrow. Students with home wifi access may check out Chromebooks from the school. Parents who have not yet signed the Device Usage Agreement will need to sign the agreement prior to Chromebook check out. Teachers will be assigning work in Google Classroom. Students do not log into Google Meet. They can check Google Classroom for assigned work.
LAFAYETTE PARISH
All LPSS schools and facilities will be closed Tuesday, September 14, 2021, due to the heavy rains and potential flooding expected with Tropical Storm Nicholas. All students will participate in remote learning while facilities are closed. Assignments will be communicated to students by teachers at each individual school.
Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy will be closed Tuesday, September 14.
All Ascension Episcopal School campuses will be closed and all activities canceled on Tuesday, September 14.
Carencro Catholic will be closed Tuesday, September 14.
Covenant Preschool in Lafayette will be closed Tuesday, September 14.
Both campuses of Episcopal School of Acadiana will be closed Tuesday, September 14th.
First Baptist Christian School will be closed Tuesday, September 14.
Lafayette Christian Academy will be closed Tuesday, September 14.
Sugar N Spice Daycares will be closed Tuesday, September 14.
St. Thomas More will be closed Tuesday, September 14.
Westminster Christian Academy in Lafayette is closed Tuesday, September 14.
