The Kirbyville Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees met in special session on Monday and voted to accept the resignation of Superintendent Georgia Sayers.
Georgia Sayers, who is the wife of Jasper Mayor Randy Sayers, says that she is resigning in order to take a job with the Region 5 Education Services Center in Beaumont.
She had served as Superintendent since March of 2020, taking over after the departure of former Superintendent Thomas Wallis.
Meanwhile, the school board has named Kristi Gore as Interim Superintendent.
