Sabine National Forest wildfire now 1,194 acres and still growing

Eight days after it began, the U.S. Forest Service says the Sabine National Forest wildfire is 1,194 acres in size as of Tuesday, and still growing. It's burning between Hemphill and Toledo Bend Reservoir in the areas known as "Hog Pen" and "Indian Mounds Wilderness". U.S. Forest Service firefighters have been brought in from here in Texas, along with Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, and Puerto Rico. Contract firefighters are also here from Florida and Georgia. In their daily updates, the Forest Service still claims that no homes or structures are in danger. However, smoke is said to be a problem for drivers in that area. The Forest Service says the blaze began on Monday, July 24th as the result of a lightning strike from a passing thunderstorm.
