Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard says a Sabine County man has been arrested after he dumped a small dog in far north Newton County. It happened shortly before 9:00 Monday morning on Private Road 5022 at the Scrappin Valley Lodge, and was captured on video by a security camera.
Using the video, deputies were able to identify the man as Damon Lance Borel, and a Justice of the Peace issued an arrest warrant on him.
Borel was arrested in Sabine County and taken to the Newton County Jail where he was charged with Cruelty to a Non-Livestock Animal.
