Governor Greg Abbott on Thursday announced that restaurants and certain other businesses can go back up to 75% capacity if they are in a region in which hospitalizations of Coronavirus cases are less than 15% of all hospitalizations.
That’s good news for Deep East Texas because we fall into that lower category.
Only three areas of Texas are currently over 15%, they are; the Lower Rio Grande Valley at 18.7%, Victoria at 21.2%, and Laredo at 26.4%.
The new rule goes into effect on Monday, September 21st, and in addition to restaurants it also includes offices, retail stores, manufacturing facilities, museums, libraries, and gyms.
However, Abbott says bars are not included in this new rule.
Additionally, Abbot said that hospitals in the qualifying regions can resume elective surgical procedures.
