CARTHAGE, Texas (KLTV) - The last time the Carthage Bulldogs lost a regular season game was October 7, 2016, a streak that spanned 2,885 days before Kilgore beat Carthage on Friday night. The last time Carthage lost a home game was also the 2016 season. It was a week before, when Carthage fell to Henderson. The Bulldogs went on to win the state championship that year with a 13-2 record. Since then, the Bulldogs have added four more state titles to their resume. Kilgore had lost six straight games to Carthage before getting the win on Friday. Kilgore was led offensively by running back Isaiah Watters. The junior carried the ball 18 times for 79 yards and scored two touchdowns, including the game winning touchdown with 2:51 left in the game. Defensively, Kilgore picked off Jett Surratt four times. Grabbing the interceptions were: Ja’Kalen Sheffield, Lakeylon Graves, Dre’ Sanders (all in the first half) and Jayden Sanders. Leading the way for Carthage was running back KJ Edwards.
