Prosecutors Say Man Killed Baby Because She Interrupted his Video Game Playing

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

A man is on trial in Jefferson County for killing his girlfriend’s 11-month-old daughter and prosecutors say it happened because the baby interrupted him while he was playing video games.

According to the prosecution, the December 3rd, 2021 death occurred while the mother was at work and had left the baby in the care of her unemployed boyfriend, 25-year-old Bryce Ceaser.

Ceaser is accused of bashing in the baby’s skull, and he’s charged with Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury and Injury to a Child. However, it’s not known why he was not charged with Murder.

A conviction on the charges against him could result in a sentence of life in prison.
