Texas Gubernatorial challenger Danny Harrison will be making a stop in Hemphill for a speaking engagement on Thursday. Harrison, who says that he is an Independent Republican, is challenging incumbent Governor Greg Abbott for the Republican nomination.
According to Harrison, he favors making both gambling and recreational marijuana legal in Texas.
Additionally, Harrison says that rural Texans have been largely abandoned by the establishment parties, and he says that his main focus is to build better rural healthcare systems, improving better educational opportunities for children, and also to create economic development in rural areas.
Harrison also says that he wants to see property taxes lowered across the state.
Harrison will be speaking at the Sabine County Chamber of Commerce, located at 125 North Texas Street in Hemphill, on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
