A U.S. Postal Service truck and the mail it was carrying was destroyed by fire following an accident during the noon hour on Saturday. It happened on County Road 323 in the Beech Grove Community. Beech Grove Fire Chief Jamie Gunter said firefighters found the Grumman mail truck completely engulfed in flames upon their arrival. Fortunately, the driver was not injured. Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Richard Standifer in Houston said that the driver, Deshaila O'Hara, 23, of Jasper, was traveling at an unsafe speed around a curve, lost control, and went off the road. Standifer said the mail truck hit two poles which ruptured the gas tank, resulting in the fire.
