Port Arthur Police were busy on Monday dealing with two different situations in which a man was shot, and another involving an officer who was assaulted by a shooting suspect. The first incident occurred during the noon hour in the 2800 block of 15th Street. Police say a man was shot in the back and seriously injured by 38-year-old Eric Martin, who fled in a car. They’re still looking for him. The second incident occurred about 2 hours later just two blocks from the first incident, in the 3000 block of 15th Street. Police say 39-year-old Qualine Joseph was intoxicated and began firing shots outside of his house. According to police, he assaulted and injured an officer while they were dealing with him. Police say Joseph will be charged with Deadly Conduct and Assault of a Peace Officer.
