A Polk County deputy is hospitalized following a late Friday night crash. Polk County Today is reporting that it occurred at about 11:30 on Highway 190 near Onalaska. According to the report, Deputy Caleb Boyer was responding to an emergency call when he came up behind a pickup truck pulling a trailer that is believed to have been unlit. The report said the deputy took evasive action and swerved to the right to avoid hitting the trailer, which sent his patrol unit off the highway where it struck a culvert and began rolling over. According to the report, the deputy was ejected from the vehicle and was found in a grassy area in front of a restaurant. The deputy was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to a Kingwood Hospital.
