Jasper Police are reporting that a truck that had recently been reported stolen has been recovered and the man who was driving it is in jail.
Officers say the series of events began shortly after noon on Monday when Richard Adams, of Jasper, reported that the 1996 Dodge pickup truck had been seen sitting outside a game room on Highway 63, on the east side of town.
Jasper County Precinct Two Constable Niles Nichols, who was first to fall into pursuit of vehicle, was soon joined by Lt. Garrett Foster of the Jasper Police Department, who reportedly headed off the truck and stopped it on Farm to Market Road 776 on the east side of Jasper.
The suspect, who at this point has only been identified as a 42-year-old resident of Jasper, was taken into custody. However, the name of the individual has not been released pending formal charges and arraignment.
