Jasper Police say an intoxicated elderly man accidentally shot himself on Wednesday afternoon. It began at about 3:00 when dispatchers received a 911 call from the man who was on a cell phone. He didn’t know his address, but the cell phone showed to be somewhere around the 700-800 block of North Main Street.
Officers began going door-to-door and finally found the man in the Heritage Apartments at the corner of North Main and Baldwin.
Officers used a battering ram to get into the locked door and once inside they found the man completely nude in a chair and bleeding from a gunshot wound to his knee.
He was transported by Allegiance EMS to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment. His name was not immediately available.
