Police Chase Began in Angelina County and Ended in Downtown Newton

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Law enforcement officers in Angelina, Jasper, and Newton Counties were involved in a high speed pursuit on Sunday evening. It began somewhere in Angelina County and finally ended in downtown Newton on the Courthouse Square with the female suspect being taken into custody.

The chase came through Jasper County at about 7:30 with the driver reaching speeds up to 110 miles-per-hour.

There's no official word yet on who the suspect is or why they ran from officers. However, a woman named Karianna Nowman, who lists herself as being from Etoile, posted a Facebook LIVE video of herself running from law enforcement officers at the same time that the pursuit was underway. Friends of Karianna Nowman tell KJAS that she is the woman who was fleeing and was captured in Newton.
