Jasper Police say a man was jailed after the pickup truck he was driving hit a vehicle parked on a local street, knocking it completely out of the roadway and up into a yard, before he jumped out and ran away.
The incident occurred shortly before 9:00 on North Peachtree Street, near the intersection of Pearl Street, in front of the home of Pryce Bourgeois, when the early model quad cab Ford pickup truck, which was apparently headed south, hit a Subaru sport utility vehicle owned by Bourgeois.
The impact pushed the Subaru, which was parked in the street in front of the home, up into the yard, severely damaging both vehicles.
Police say the driver of the truck, Ronald Edward Beatty, 47, of Jasper, jumped out and ran through the neighborhood, but was captured a short time later a block away on Bowie Street.
Beatty was taken into custody and taken to jail, where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, but later released after posting bond.
