Jasper Police Chief Garrett Foster said Monday that a woman from Kibyville has been arrested in connection with an alleged hit and run incident that occurred on Sunday evening.
According to Foster, police were called to the parking lot of Allegiance EMS at 1011 East Gibson Street shortly before 10:00, when it was reported that a vehicle had struck a traffic sign causing it to fall on an ambulance and damage the vehicle.
Foster said that upon investigation officers soon learned the vehicle involved was a black sport utility vehicle which had left the scene without stopping.
Foster said information obtained from the so called "Flock" or safety license plate cameras in the area revealed the location of the run away vehicle which was found at a local residence and the driver 32 year old Sharley M. Markovich was taken into custody.
Markovich was transported to the Jasper County Jail where she was later charged with Collision Involving Damage to a Vehicle of $200 or More and Duty on Striking Highway Fixture or Landscape
Bond on Markovich was set at a total of $1,500 and at last word she was still being held.
