On Monday, December 10, 2018, the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office received a call from Coushatta Tribal Police Department advising they had found a man that looked beat up on the side of Powell Road, 2 miles south of LA Highway 26. The Allen Parish SO identified the man as Truman Doyle 73 of Pitkin.
Doyle had a severe laceration to the back of his head, was unable to provide much information on what had happened and was transported to St. Pats Hospital in Lake Charles.
It was determined that Doyle's 2002 Ford Truck his wallet and about $2000 were missing. The vehicle was found on the side a road about a mile away. Evidence in the truck suggested Doyle had been at Grand Casino Coushatta and the Tribal Police assisted with surveillance video, which revealed Doyle had left the casino with Leah Langely of Elton. When interviews, Langley admitted to the robbery and informed the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office that Gerald Artis of Kinder was also involved.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Gerald Artis and he was arrested in Rapides Parish yesterday. Artis was booked on charges of Second Degree Robbery, Aggravated Second Degree Battery, Cruelty to the Infirm, and Criminal Conspiracy to Theft. No bond has been set on Artis at this time.
