Pickup Truck Destroyed by Fire

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Fire destroyed the engine compartment and cab of a pickup in east Jasper late Thursday morning. The Jasper Fire Department responded at about 11:30 to the 400 block of South Fletcher Street where they found an older model Dodge truck ablaze.

The owner of the truck, Terry Jamison, said that he had just left a business when smoke suddenly started pouring from the engine bay, and the next thing he knew the truck was on fire.

Jamison said he pulled over, stopped, and jumped out just as flames were starting to enter the cab of the truck. Fortunately, he wasn’t injured.

Terry Jamison is the husband of recording artist Cheryl Jamison, and the couple resides here in Jasper.

This is the second experience with fire for the couple in less than two years. In September of 2020, a small blaze broke out on the roof of the Jamison home on Hall Street. Terry Jamison said that he had been using a grinder on a small maintenance project on the roof and he believed the sparks from the grinder set the roof ablaze.
