Person of interest in recent murder in Beaumont now in custody

The U.S. Marshals Service has arrested a person of interest in a Beaumont teen's homicide on unrelated charges after capturing him in Alabama. Police say the Marshals Service arrested Melvin Jerome Watson, 63, in Bay Minette, Alabama on five felony possession of a controlled substance warrants not related to the homicide. Investigators plan to speak with him when he's transported back to Jefferson County. Chardarion Parker, 17, of Beaumont, has an unrelated active Harris County warrant for Evading Arrest/Detention. Ofc. Carole Riley says he turned himself in Wednesday, spoke with detectives and was taken to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility on the Harris County warrant. Police are looking for a third person of interest, Latrevion Roberts, 18, of Beaumont. He has an unrelated active Harris County warrant for Resisting Arrest. On Friday, February 2 at 10:58 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Campus in reference to a victim of a shooting. They found Louis Mitchell, Jr.  unresponsive on the front porch of the address. EMS was called to the scene but Mitchell died.
