In an unprecedented period for auto-pedestrian accidents, the latest one occurred Monday night in Polk County and proved deadly for someone on the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 59.
Polk County Today is reporting that it happened shortly before 9:00 when 28-year-old Anthony Davis, of Porter, was driving his 2016 Range Rover SUV and hit something, which he initially didn’t realize was a human being.
Emergency crews soon found the body of the person lying in the median. The name of the person was not immediately released as authorities try to locate next-of-kin for notification.
Recently, the Texas Department of Transportation released findings which show a startling increase in the number of auto-pedestrian accidents statewide since the beginning of 2020, and in that timeframe KJAS News has documented twenty auto-pedestrian accidents in this region with a total of sixteen deaths.
