(KPLC) - A father turned himself in to authorities after being accused of killing his 2-month-old daughter, according to the Opelousas Police Department.
Taylor Broussard, was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with the following:
- First-degree murder
- Cruelty to juveniles
- Second-degree battery
Police say the infant’s mother, Kaylee Fontenot, was previously arrested on the same charges.
On Oct. 25, police responded to a medical emergency on North Liberty Street where they found the baby girl not breathing. Despite the first-responder’s efforts, the infant was pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to authorities.
Police say the autopsy report revealed severe neglect and physical abuse including extreme dehydration, malnourishment, broken ribs, and a severed lower spine.
This is an ongoing investigation.
