October 7, 2024 @ 12:30PM - Sheriff Aaron Mitchell reports the arrest of Charles Merle Paddie (age-54) of Converse this morning, October 7, 2024. The Sabine Parish Sheriff Tactical Narcotic Team had been investigating the illegal narcotic activity of Paddie for the past several months. Deputies and T.N.T. Agents stopped Paddie's vehicle for a traffic violation on Saline Church Road near LA Highway 191 in the Converse area. Paddie seemed extremely nervous and the T.N.T. K-9 was called to the scene where Sheriff K-9 "Zeus" alerted on Paddie's SUV. T.N.T. Agents subsequently located and seized approximately 4 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and over $1000 cash from inside Paddie's vehicle. Paddie was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center for:
-Possession with intent to distribute schedule II (Meth), -Possession of marijuana, -Driving on the right side of road, -No registration.
No bond has been set at this time. T.N.T. Agents obtained a search warrant for Paddie's residence on Saline Church Road where they located and seized 5 firearms and numerous drug paraphernalia. Additional criminal charges are pending.
