Sheriff Aaron Mitchell and Warden Berlion Sweet announce the first ever P.O.S.T. Level 3 Correctional Officer Certification Course was held last month at the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office Training Facility.
This 92-hour course certifies deputies in the care, custody, and control of inmates by the State of Louisiana. Assistant Warden Teresa Bonner, Lieutenant Curry Richardson, and Sergeant John Potter were recently certified as P.O.S.T. Level 3 Instructors and they conducted the course.
13 Sabine Parish Sheriff Deputies completed the 3-week course of instruction in Louisiana law, transporting inmates, jail searches, suicide prevention, report writing, use of force, bloodborne pathogens, first aid and adult CPR, defensive tactics, and chemical agents.
Deputies Brett M Basco, Weston L Birdwell, Ideshia J Crawford, Collin T Durr, Chasity E Greene, Ricky L Hall, Gabriel M Hardy, Melliody L Hollins, Laten L Phillips, Royce A Rodgers, Jacob W Sepulvado, Kristian N Welch, and Matt Campbell successfully completed the Level 3 training.
Sheriff Mitchell congratulates these deputies and commends them for their dedication and commitment to the Sheriff's Office and citizens of Sabine Parish.
Warden Sweet said the Corrections Division will conduct further P.O.S.T. Level 3 courses in the future as needed.
