A man went to jail on a drug charge in Newton County on Wednesday morning. Sheriff Colton Havard says shortly after 9:00, a deputy made a traffic stop on Highway 87 in Deweyville and he said the driver’s conduct appeared suspicious. Havard said the deputy found that the driver had a baggy of methamphetamine, so he was placed into custody. The man has been identified as 45-year-old Scotty Lee Frazier, of Orange. Havard said Frazier was taken to the Newton County Jail and charged with felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
