One Person Injured in Early-Morning Log Truck Rollover on U.S. Highway 69

A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 69 north near Pollok resulted in a traffic delay early Wednesday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

At approximately 7:20 a.m. a 2003 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer, driven by Charles Evans, 61, of Lufkin transporting logs changed lanes and collided with a 2017 Dodge passenger car driven by Melody Wallace, 47, of Pollok, according to a release from DPS Sgt. David Hendry. The truck overturned and spilled logs into the northbound lanes of the highway.

Wallace was transported to CHI St. Luke's Health-Memorial in Lufkin with non-life threatening injuries. Evans was not injured in the crash.

Workers with the Texas Department of Transportation worked to clean up the logs, which blocked the roadway until just before 9 a.m. Both southbound lanes and one northbound were closed during that time. TxDOT will temporarily close the roadway later in the day to load the logs onto another truck.
