The driver of log truck received what was reported to be minor injuries, when the rig he was driving went off the road and turned over early Tuesday morning on Farm to Market Road 777, southwest of Jasper. Beech Grove Fire Chief Jamie Gunter said the accident occurred just after midnight, just south of the Jasper County Airport, between County Roads 138 and 144 and spilled logs, diesel fuel, and oil across the roadway. That section of FM-777 was closed for about three hours until the wreckage could be cleared and the roadway cleaned off. Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark later identified the driver as 58-year-old Willie Rigsby, of Woodville. She said that he was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital. Sergeant Clark said the investigating trooper determined that Rigsby was driving the 2015 Peterbilt truck "...at a speed which was unsafe around a curve and traveled into the west ditch, causing the truck-tractor and semi-trailer to overturn."
