One person is in the hospital and another is in jail following a shooting that occurred on Tuesday afternoon west of Jasper.
Deputies from the Jasper County Sherriff's Department and others were dispatched to the location on County Road 159, just off of Farm to Market Road 3414 shortly after 1:00 when it was reported that that the incident had occurred.
Scotty Duncan, who serves as Chief Deputy of the Jasper County Sheriff's Department said "A dispute between two family members escalated and that's where we are at."
Duncan said the altercation or argument was between two family members that resulted in one of them pulling a .380 caliber pistol and shooting the other.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital where he was at last word, still undergoing treatment. The alleged shooter was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
