Beaumont Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in the 800 block of IH 10 eastbound. Authorities received a call at 8:40 a.m. on Sunday morning reporting a single-vehicle wreck with the vehicle on fire.
According to Beaumont Police, there were two occupants of the vehicle. The driver is deceased, and the passenger has been transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital and is in stable condition. The downtown distributor was shut down while officers were on the scene.
An initial investigation revealed that the vehicle involved in the crash was a part of a hit-and-run accident near the intersection of Washington Blvd. and Eleventh Street around 8:30 Sunday. The vehicle fled from the scene and led to the single-vehicle accident on I-10 where the driver died.
