Authorities in DeRidder said late Sunday that one person was dead and two others injured in a bizarre series of incidents that occurred there.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Cedar Street on the city's southeast side shortly before noon on Sunday, when it was reported that a drive by shooting had occurred and arrived to find two people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police were in the process of getting the victims of the shooting to a hospital and investigating the incident when they learned that the alleged shooter in the case had apparently shot himself while sitting in a vehicle, not far away.
The shooter was taken to Beauregard Regional Hospital in DeRidder, where he died a short time later.
The names of victims or the alleged shooter have not been released at this time.
Officers have said the two victims of the shooting, who were sitting in a vehicle when the incident occurred are still undergoing treatment.
