One person underwent treatment following a crash in Newton County. Burkeville Fire Chief Charles Duckworth said the two-vehicle accident occurred shortly after 11:00 Saturday morning on Highway 63 near County Road 1395, a few miles west of Burkeville.
Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark said a 2016 GMC SUV was westbound while a 2008 Chevrolet pickup pulling a trailer was traveling eastbound. Clark said the driver of the SUV failed to yield to the pickup while attempting to make a left turn into a driveway, and the truck hit the SUV.
The driver of the SUV, identified as 45-year-old Keeymo Martin, of Port Arthur, was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the pickup, identified as 23-year-old James Jones and his passenger, 20-year-old Ray Robert, both of Louisiana, were not injured.
