SHREVEPORT, La. – Authorities are investigating a homicide and an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Saturday in Shreveport.
Officers were called to the 8800 block of Yancey Street around 7:15 p.m.
According to initial reports, a male victim in his 50s suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities at the scene tell KTBS that officers encountered a suspect who allegedly shot the victim and then brandished a firearm at responding officers.
Multiple officers discharged their weapons at the suspect. No officers were hurt.
The Louisiana State Police (LSP) has taken over the investigation into the officer-involved shooting, while the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) is leading the homicide investigation.
