NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB) - The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on social media that deputies issued a citation to a 21-year-old man from Natchitoches for illegally dumping trash on Hampton Road. On Wednesday, May 15, deputies reportedly arrived at the 100 block of Hampton Road off of La. Hwy 494 after receiving a call informing them of the litter. Eight large trash bags, which contained dirty diapers, nursing bottles and other miscellaneous refuse, were discovered at the scene. Deputies reportedly searched through the trash for evidence and were able to identify a person of interest. They also determined the littering had been occurring over several weeks. Parish highway crews were sent to clean the litter later that day. On Thursday, May 16, deputies were able to make contact with the POI and learned the man was responsible for the litter. He was cited for gross littering and must appear in the 10th Judicial District Court. Anyone who sees litter or observes illegal dumping in Natchitoches Parish is asked to contact NPSO at (318) 357-7851 or (318) 352-6432.
