NPSO: 2 Dead, Including 6-year-Old, Following Fire — BDC archive

Investigators are looking into the cause of a fatal fire that took the life of two people, including a child, and injured another on Sunday morning.

Crews got the call around 5:30 a.m. to the 100 block of Brite Star Morning Church Road off of La. Hwy 480 north of Campti, regarding a house fire.

Investigators say that six people were inside the home at the time of the fire. However, two victims, one of them a six-year-old girl, were unable to escape.

Investigators were able to find the charred remains hours following the fire.

Four others, two adults and two children, are being treated at a North Louisiana hospital for smoke inhalation.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office has been called to assist, and detectives with the NPSO Criminals Investigations are on scene. Deputies, Natchitoches Parish Fire District #9, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS and Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office assisted with extinguishing the fire.
