A New Orleans family was involved in a Wednesday afternoon crash on Highway 190 West near County Road 138. The family had evacuated to Texas to escape Hurricane Ida and were headed back home when the incident occurred.
A teenager who was riding in the early model Honda Civic said that his aunt was driving and she was pulling over so that they could change drivers. However, he said that the passenger side tires fell off the pavement and that caused the car to veer right and collide head-on with a tree.
Beech Grove Fire Chief Jamie Gunter said that the adult female driver and two children had only minor scrapes and bruises. They were all taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital to be checked out.
The family was traveling together in three different vehicles, so they have two extra vehicles to get them all home.
