No injuries when pickup truck crashes into fallen tree near Beech Grove

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

A close call, but no injuries reported when a Ford pickup truck hit a tree that had fallen across the road, west of Jasper on Tuesday evening.

The volunteers of the Beech Grove Fire Department and others were dispatched to the location on Farm to Market Road 777, just north of Highway 190 and Beech Grove shortly after 7:00, when it was reported that the accident had occurred.

The accident occurred as heavy winds blew in the Jasper Area following the passage of a cold front, which produced rains and at least one small thunderstorm.

Beech Grove Fire Chief Jamie Gunter said "There are many leaning and dead trees along our roadways, especially FM 777. The winds tonight have already started gusting close to 30 mph and are expected to continue to do so through tomorrow."

Gunter went on to say "Please be very cautious when traveling tonight and tomorrow and be vigilant for falling or fallen trees." He also reminded that a ban on all outside burning remains in effect in Jasper County.
