Newton Police Chief Will Jackson announced Thursday that an arrest has been made in a pair of arson fires in Newton which occurred on June 28th, and the suspect is the victim’s son.
The fires occurred in the 400 block of Burnaham Street and destroyed two recreational vehicles. Shortly after the incident, Newton Fire Captain Melanie Smith said the fires were suspicious and arson was suspected.
Chief Jackson said his department and the Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office conducted the investigation which led them to 27-year-old Joshua Harvey Turley.
According to Jackson, Turley was arrested on Tuesday and was charged with one second degree felony count of Arson and one state jail felony count of Arson.
