JASPER, Texas (KTRE) - The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is almost ready for its latest release.
The sheriff’s office, thanks in large part to community support, they say, has purchased a 24-foot patrol boat to help with water rescues and other needs throughout the county’s waters.
“Today we had it officially striped with our logo and colors, and we’re just waiting on the T-top, emergency radio, and lights. We expect it to hit the water in the next few weeks,” the sheriff’s office posted on their social media.
They said the boat will be dedicated to the late Deputy Raymond Claude, who died in the line of duty in 1982 during an inmate’s attempted jail escape.
They will hold a public dedication of the boat when it’s ready and they say that will be open to the public.
