NATCHITOCHES, La. -- A Natchitoches woman was killed Friday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash, state police said.
The victim is identified as Doris L. Nichols, 58. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said the crash happened at 1:15 p.m. on state Highway 6 at Collins Road.
The initial investigation indicates Nichols, who was driving a Honda CRV, was westbound and was preparing to make a left turn onto Collins when David W. Cross of Deville, the driver of a 2015 GMC 2500, failed to slow down and rear-ended Nichols' vehicle.
The impact pushed the Honda into the eastbound lane, where it was hit a second time by the driver of a 2000 Ford pickup truck, troopers said.
Nichols was restrained but suffered fatal injuries. Cross, who also was restrained, was not injured.
The driver of the Ford was restrained but sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
