The Natchitoches Police Department is investigating a shooting late Thursday night that left one dead and another injured.
Officers with the Natchitoches Police Department responded to the Bailey Heights neighborhood shortly before 10:30 p.m. to a report of multiple gunshots in the area. While they were en route, officers were told there were two gunshot victims in front of a house in the 1000 block of Amulet Street.
Kimanesha Carter, 28, was found in the rear of a vehicle with several gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office as a result of her injuries.
The other shooting victim was taken to the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
This investigation is ongoing and the Natchitoches Police Department will release more details as they become available.
