MANSFIELD, La. - A driver was arrested after a pursuit on Interstate 49 early Monday morning. The chase began after a DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office deputy found a man parked in the median, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Shortly after 3:30, a patrol sergeant saw a white sedan parked in the median while she was headed to a separate scene. She requested a nearby patrol unit to check on the driver.
When a deputy arrived, he found Tracarlos Audra McNeil, 49, of Houston, sitting in the driver's seat. McNeil was naked and authorities say he appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
The situation escalated when McNeil suddenly drove off in the vehicle. He headed northbound in the southbound lanes, against the flow of traffic, at about 90 miles per hour.
Additional deputies responded and the interstate was shut down. A deputy was able to stop the vehicle in the median.
McNeil refused repeated commands to exit the car, continuing to dance and yell. K-9 Karen was deployed and successfully removed McNeil from the vehicle.
McNeil was taken into custody and taken to the hospital for medical evaluation. K-9 Karen was not seriously injured.
Following treatment, McNeil was booked into the DeSoto Detention Center. He faces charges of aggravated flight from an officer and resisting an officer.
