Jury selection is set to begin Tuesday morning in the Newton County Courthouse followed by testimony in the murder trial of 45-year-old John Michael “Toby” Peck of the Call Community. Peck is accused of committing the November 24th, 2017 murder of Randy Holmes, who was 56-years-old. Holmes was reported missing and remained so until November of 2019 when Newton County deputies found bones and other body parts. DNA testing confirmed that the body was that of Holmes. Peck was indicted by the Newton County Grand Jury on charges of Murder and Tampering with Evidence/Corpse. According to the indictment, Peck shot Holmes, and then ran over his body with a tractor, and then set his body on fire.
